Luke 18;27″ And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

This week was amazing. Still going strong with the He is the Gift initiative, and we are getting TONS of new investigators! Love it. These people have real potential. I love being in Tirane where there are so many people, so that every few seconds I can reach out to someone and share this wonderful gift with them!

Ok SO this week, Sarah Shehu got baptized! Sara has been with us for about a month, and man was this girl prepared. She is from Vlore, here for school. And she seriously is one of the elect. It is an immense honor to have been a part of her gospel learning, I feel like she taught me so much. But you know those kinds of people who just as soon as they hear a gospel truth, they get it. They have the gift of understanding, that is Sara. And she is one of the most amazing people. It was meant to be that we taught her, considering the fact that my first name is sarah and my companions name is sarah… and we were teaching Sara…. it was meant to be!
But there really have been so many wonderful miracles happening this week. Getting people on baptismal dates, and just witnessing so many miracles. Like with Elona who will be getting baptized on the 27th.. She had a problem with the Word of Wisdom, coffee… 4/5 a day, met with her on Wednesday and she brought it up to us, talking about her baptismal date, you know how last week when she accepted a date and we had that wonderful spiritual lesson with her? ya well, she wants to move her date up~ she is awesome, so she brought it up to us, and we talked all about it and we talked about weening herself off of coffee slowly.. but she went and quit it cold turkey! Hasn’t had one since! She is absolutely amazing. These people have such amazing faith! And once you talk about what they want, about their end goal of baptism/temple/celestial kingdom, what is one cup of coffee compared to all of that?
I love teaching. And I love being a missionary at this time! It truly is magical. Since we are in the middle of the biggest city in Albania, at the center they have this HUGE Christmas tree all set up and lit up, and the boulevard has lights and it is gorgeous. I love tirana. It is a bit unfortunate that we don’t get snow here in the city, but it definitely going to be the best Christmas ever! I love that I get to be here with these people that I love so much. Can’t believe Christmas is next week! Crazy sauce. and then the week after is transfers! We will see where I go! I have no clue..
Love you all to the moon and back!

Mark 10:27

“And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible . ”

So this week. We had a crazy amazing zone training. We have some INSANE goals for this last month of 2014, in efforts to fulfill our year goal of baptisms… and for our zone, we have a lot to do. But the crazy thing is, I KNOW that it is totally possible through our faith and diligence. Me and sister V left that training feeling so pumped up and ready to go. Because I know our leaders here are inspired. I have no doubt that president is in tune with His will. So we know we can accomplish these things. It is all about lifting where we stand.
With that renewed zeal for the work, this week we have been more diligent and faithful and are truly witnessing miracles. I can’t even count all the little miracles we are seeing, but it isn’t just small miracles, we are seeing massive miracles happen in this special Christmas season. A different spirit has entered Albania, and it is tangible. With this He is the Gift initiative, we are finding SO MANY PEOPLE, and it feels so good getting out there and contacting and telling everyone about their savior and the true meaning of Christmas. I love it. (I absolutely love street contacting, definitely in between talking to people I am singing Christmas songs, and I just love it)
We had one particularly massive miracle happen yesterday(Sunday), so let me preface: last week we had 0 investigators in church. It was the worst. I can’t describe how awful that feels. I felt so kote (lazy).. this week we had 4 investigators and 3 returning members, the RM’s who we totally weren’t planning on. what?! Miracles I say. However, one of these in particular was the real miracle, Elona, she is our investigator and is the wife of our first counselor. She is a gem, and in the last 2 weeks has progressed SO MUCH. She had met with missionaries before us, but not consistent and wasn’t really into it. She is changing. They now read and pray together every night and it is amazing. And they all came to church together and we had one of the most powerful testimony meeting I have experienced, where so many testimonies were geared towards how happy the members were that Elona was there and talking about baptism and eternal families.
And after church, we had one of the most spiritual lessons I have experienced on my mission thus far. It was by far the most spiritual lesson of this transfer and companionship. We taught of the Plan of Salvation or happiness, and of Eternal Families and of Temples. It was a powerful lesson, but the real power wasn’t till the end where we were talking about her baptism date. She wants it. But her family is KUNDER FARE (super against) the church or Christianity at all. They don’t even know her husband is a member. We proceeded to testify boldly of having faith before fear… and along with the testifying there was some powerful silences… in which the spirit taught far more than we ever could or would or can…. The room was absolutely saturated with the Spirit, and in that time I could feel just a portion of the love that Heavenly Father has for Elona… It is a massive amount of love.  We testified of that love, and of many things. And with a loose date for her baptism but still very much more scared than faithful she offered a beautiful prayer, a prayer in which she went from being blinded by her fears to trusting in her faith, and trusting in the Lord… she asked her Father in Heaven to help her to prepare for baptism on the 27th of Dec…. she closed her prayer and looked up, her countenance completely different, she smiled and was peaceful… and told us how she was now calm and happy, that she was comforted… then with tears in her eyes, she said : you look to me as angels…. *que sister kollmen and vermunt crying…. She is now working towards the 27th with faith and hopefulness.
I love being a missionary. I love being able to have these experiences… I have never felt the spirit like that in my life. And I can’t ever explain to any of you exactly how it was… I am just so grateful to be here. So very grateful.
I love you all so much! Please #ShareTheGift and just love one another. 🙂
Love, Motra Kollmen

Mission Conference in Durres

Mission Conference in Durres

Let it snow let it snow let in snow….. NOT.

I cannot believe it is the first of December right now! Too crazy. This last week for our thanksgiving celebration, got together with ALL the missionaries and had a feast and a talent show and a dessert contest. Good news, we got second place! Too bad we didn’t win first, or we could have had dinner at President’s house with him and his cutest wife! Blast! That’s ok we won a can of caramel sauce… not quite sure what we are gonna make with it but it is going to be fantastic.

What to talk about… it has been a good week, but also a harder week. This week we had a couple of our solid investigators go out of town, because this weekend was the Albanian independence day/weekend. people like to be out of town, or tons of people from villages and towns come into tirana to party and drink.. yup. So we were a little worried with some people being out of town… but they called us up today, and are doing good. It is so interesting though. I get so worried about our investigators when we don’t hear from them for a couple days. so when they go out of town for a week… well it’s needless to say I was very nervous.
It is so interesting. I don’t think they understand how much we worry about them. About their progress. about knowing how they are doing. Every moment that they aren’t with us, I am a little worried. I love them so much, so that when we don’t have constant contact… well, I just don’t like it. For the past month or so, we have started scripture texts to our investigators, RC’s and returning members each night, and to some of the members… actually a lot of the members. Just scripture texts with words of encouragement. And I cannot tell you the success that these are having. Everyone LOVES them. And small and simple miracles are coming to pass. It is building and strengthening relationships that we have with our members, and it is really helping with our retaining. And it is a daily reminder to our investigators of this new and wonderful world that they have entered into. Reminding them to read and pray. I love it.
Also something that we are doing now, with it being the beautiful month of December, the church is doing a world wide initiative called He is the Gift. Here is the wonderful video: http://www.mormon.org/christmas?cid=HPFR112814529
You all need to watch it. Talking about what the true meaning of Christmas is. We will be using this as a good and effective way of talking about the true meaning of Christmas and inviting people to learn more about their savior. I love it. Each day we are supposed to talk or invite 10 or more people to learn more about it and teach them a bit of it. Wonderful. Good things are going to happen because of this. I am excited about the festive Christmas season. Even though Albania is a mostly Muslim country, they have started putting up the lights and decking the halls.. a different kind of spirit is starting to enter Albania, and I know that this is the time where peoples hearts will be even more open… And I know that showing this video and talking about the true meaning of Christmas with people is going to yield miracles here. I am excited to say the least.
This month is exciting. Hopefully have a couple baptisms in the upcoming weeks. Pray for my investigators would ya pretty please? Thanks.
I love you all so much! I hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving! So many things to be grateful for in this life. I am so grateful for everything I have. Every joyful experience, and every hardship.
Love you all to the moon and back!
